Oriental Beauty Oolong tea - 50 g

Oriental Beauty Dong Fang Mei Ren Oolong Tea is a particular oolong that nowadays is mainly produced in the northwest area of ​​the island of Taiwan. 

This tea has a long history linked above all to a particular aspect of its processing which was born in China but then moved to the island of Taiwan over time. 

This process consists in letting some insects (Jacobiasca Formosana green fly) eat small parts of the young and tender leaves which, once collected, will form the finished product. 

It seems a rather strange processing practice, but its purpose is very specific and is to increase the concentration of terpenes in the tea. 

These compounds are aromatic molecules that the plant naturally produces to attract or repel certain insects: when the latter is attacked, it reacts by secreting some terpenes that we have learned to exploit to give our tea an additional sweetness.
