Woven from ethically-sourced veta vera grass in Northern Ghana, this colourful basket is made from robust veta vera grass – an indigenous raw material that’s sustainably sourced and perfect for producing durable baskets. The grass is hand-rolled before being woven by a skilled member of our partner weaving cooperative in Northern Ghana. Most of the artisans who make these baskets are farmers first and foremost, but drought makes it increasingly difficult to live off the land. Basket weaving empowers these people with the opportunity to earn a flexible second income. Each floor basket comes with a thank you card from the weaving co-operative.
