Made from ethically-sourced veta vera grass in Northern Ghana, this beautiful bolga basket is 100% vegan with no leather finishes. CONNIE is made from robust veta vera grass - a fantastic material for producing durable baskets. The grass is hand-rolled before being woven by a skilled member of our partner weaving cooperative in Northern Ghana. These grasses grow locally and are picked from the tip, allowing the root to continue to grow. Farming is the basis of most Ghanaian weavers’ incomes, but drought makes it increasingly difficult for these people to make ends meet. Basket weaving brings the opportunity to earn a valuable second income that’s flexible. Each hand woven storage basket comes with some information about the weaving co-operative.
