The Bibliophiles are a new business initiative, that combines classic literature and groundbreaking graphic design. Launching with affordable A1 art prints, with more products to follow in the near future.
Book jacket design has always been an innovative graphic design medium, and alongside album covers and posters has provided us with one of the most creative elements of product design for the past century. The Book Jacket has gone from something that was originally intended to be discarded to becoming a collectors item sometimes worth thousands, thanks to the groundbreaking graphic artists that made it an essential part of book buying.
These include some of the greats of the 20th Century including George Salter, Alvin Lustig, who studied under Frank Lloyd Wright and Edward McKnight Kauffer who designed the now famous London Underground posters of the 1920's. The range includes original first edition book jackets , paperbacks and rare out of print editions of classic titles.
The Bibliophiles take the idea behind paperback cover art one step further: to bring great literature to the masses through populist, accessible graphic design. The posters are being distributed free of charge to libraries, schools and youth centres as part of an initiative to get young people to read more.
All products designed, printed in the UK and using sustainable materials.
