Summer Darjeeling, Singtom garden (Organic) - 1kg Bulk

Singtom is one of the first gardens in Darjeeling.

it was created in 1862 following its twin: Steinthal.

Singtam means "the house of lions" in Tibetan.

Singtom is also the first “Tea Estate Resort”.

The tea plants, from Chinese cultivars, grow between 1200 and 1700m altitude. The second harvest (2nd flush, also called muscatel) is harvested from the end of May.

The leaves from this summer harvest are more colorful and their liquor more coppery than those from the spring harvest.

Hand picking is done from shoots and tender leaves selected in the morning, before the sunlight becomes too strong.

The withering process is natural, the rolling of the tea leaves is done using machines that date from the establishment of the factory! The liquor is frank, full-bodied, with malty accents evoking certain teas from the Assam region.

The woody note, reminiscent of cedar, combines harmoniously with a fruity note reminiscent of muscat grapes.

On the palate, the liquor is lively, with a refreshing mouthfeel.

Note that, when well infused, this tea has neither bitterness nor astringency. The Singtom Muscatel is an excellent option for breakfast, or for an English teatime.

It can handle a "cloud" of milk, but we still recommend tasting it without!
