Welcome to The Greatwood Candle Co and Thank you for your interest in my brand. My name is Louise and I am the founder of the company. I have always loved fragrance, as a little girl in my gran’s garden I loved to mix rose petals in water, decant the liquid into jam jars and pretend I had made the most amazing scent! As I grew older, I loved perfume, loving nothing more than trying out the multitude of scents available at airports. Candles also became an obsession, although I quickly came to realise that not all candles are created equal. Some smell lovely in the container, but have no scent throw when lit, some are the opposite and fill your room with scent. Some burn unevenly, some leave black soot marks on the glass. I decided to find out what makes the perfect candle!
It took a year of testing waxes, wicks and fragrances but from those beginnings The Greatwood Candle Co. was born. All my candles are still poured by me in my East Sussex Oast House kitchen and the scents have all been inspired by the coast, countryside and history around me.
I use a mix of coconut oil and rapeseed oil wax and my fragrances are a mixture of essential oils and fragrance oils. All are sourced from UK suppliers and not tested on animals. It’s important to me to be to be as ethical as possible.
