Colourful Elephant Dung Photo Album - Natural

Our brilliantly unique photo albums are made from one of the world's most quirky sustainable materials: elephant poo! Made by Eco Maximus in Sri Lanka, from 75% elephant dung and 25% recycled paper these albums are an ideal gift for someone who wants something a bit different! The albums are filled with 10 double-sided plain pages of naturally dyed, multicoloured elephant dung paper and allow for up to 20 either 6x4 or 7x5 photos. Due to the handmade and fair trade nature of this gift, please note designs and colours may vary slightly but loveliness comes as standard. Made from: 75% elephant dung and 25% recycled paper. Eco Maximus's aim, through the Maximus conservation trust, is to educate the local communities on the plight of the Sri Lankan elephant and to eventually live together in harmony. The ultimate in recycling, elephant dung is collected and boiled to sterilise it before the paper-making process. As unique as the animal that helped to produce it, each piece of paper is different depending on the diet of the elephant. Improving the outlook for the majestic elephants of Sri Lanka, Maximus has its workshop in the grounds of the Millennium Elephant Foundation (MEF), a wonderful small charity that cares for sick, old, and disabled elephants. Working with initiatives like Maximus, the foundation is able to show the positive relationship local economies can have with these amazing animals, and work towards resolving the conflict between the elephants and the local communities as they turn to eating farmers’ crops as their natural habitat is destroyed.
