Each bowl is handmade by skilled artisans from highly sustainable mango wood to produce a stunning bowl that will last for years to come. The bowl has a thin striped design which is highlighted with a stylish polished finish to bring out the natural beauty of the wood. They are made entirely by hand using traditional skills handed down from generation to generation. Mango trees have an extremely long life but eventually do stop bearing fruit and are replaced by younger trees. As India produces, by far, the most mangos in the world this results in a massive industry using one of the most sustainable woods known to man. This product has been made by Noah’s Ark, a fantastic member of both the World Fair Trade Organisation (WFTO) and Fair Trade Forum India. With their mission to commit themselves and the producer groups they work with to Fair Trade principles, their goal is to change the lives of grassroots artisans. The organisation works with around 49 talented producer groups, representing approximately 500 artisans collectively working towards the eradication of poverty. Their focus on education and capacity building enables the people they support to become more aware of fair working conditions and the environment, in order to promote the value, cultural heritage and beauty of their handmade products.
