 Plant info With its long intertwined stems and numerous small flowers, Gypsophila is a vaporous plant with the sweet nickname “Cloud Gypsophila”. Its botanical name Gypsophila paniculata comes from the Greek words gypsos meaning “gypsum” (calcium sulfate) and philos, “friend”.   A poetic way of highlighting the flower’s preference for limestone soils. Gypsophila is a distant cousin of the carnation.   In the language of flowers, it is synonymous with happiness, combining finesse, delicacy and magic.
