The story of the Tyrolean stone pine cushion
OR ... how to bring a piece of alpine air home!

Growing up on a farm, I developed a close connection to nature at an early age.

Every summer I spent a few weeks with my grandfather on the alp to help with the work there.
Our Alm is located at about 1500 m above sea level, surrounded by beautiful mountains in a beautiful landscape, far away from any civilization.

Sometimes it was quite exhausting. My grandfather was a very hard working man.
There was always something to do with him. Of course, we children had to help. Every night after the cows were milked and tended, my grandfather would cook dinner for us.
As long as daylight permitted, we read old magazines that our family sent us every few days by milk guide (he brings fresh milk from the alpine pastures to the alpine dairymen in the valley every day).

Later, when it was dark and I was lying on my bunk bed in the alpine hut, I listened to the familiar sound of the bells of our cows grazing around the hut.
A day came to an end and a feeling of satisfaction and security rose in me.
I reviewed the day and fell asleep happily.

Later I worked for many years in a wood processing company.
Wood is a wonderful material. I always liked the pine wood best with its unique scent. If stone pine stacks are hidden behind other wood stacks, you can smell them long before you see them.

A few years ago I had the idea of putting the shavings in a pillow and putting them in my bedroom.

When I went to bed that same day, turned to the side and closed my eyes, I suddenly had a clear picture in my mind: I found myself on my bunk bed in our alpine hut and heard the cowbells outside the hut door. A little later I fell into a deep sleep. Since then there has been a stone pine pillow in my bed.

I'm on the road a lot now, but when I get home and go to bed it's always the same.

I fall asleep in our alpine hut in the mountains!
