Elephant Celebration | postcard

Elephant watercolor illustration printed on high quality recycled paper. ↟ ↟ ↟ Sumatran elephant. The evolution of elephants began about 1000 BC. 55 million years ago in North Africa. To date, more than 300 species of elephants have been recorded. It is hard to believe that only two of them have survived: the African elephant and the Asian elephant. Compared to the African elephant, the Asian elephant is slightly smaller and also has smaller ears. The Sumatran elephant is one of the three subspecies of the Asian elephant. There are only about 2500 of them left on the island of Sumatra and, along with the Sumatran orangutan, the Sumatran tiger and the Sumatran rhinoceros, they are considered to be threatened with extinction. The Sumatran elephants are threatened primarily by the drastic loss of their habitat as the forests are cut down and converted into plantations for paper and palm oil production. This makes it all the more important that we pay attention to recycled paper and palm oil-free food and cosmetics when choosing our products.
