The organic Nerpio walnut is grown in a privileged area and integrated into the Natura 2000 Network, and is marketed with the DOP “Nueces de Nerpio”. They are obtained for the most part from century-old walnut trees, from native varieties and located at altitudes higher than 1.100 meters. They are irrigated with clean water from high mountains, grown in limestone soils and without the use of pesticides or chemical fertilizers. The nuts are hand-harvested, air-dried and hand-cracked. All this gives them an intense and unique flavor. By consuming this nut, one contributes to the environmental, economic and social maintenance of a high mountain rural area.
