About Venezianas Original Shoes
At Venezianas, we work with Italian designers and artisans. We collaborate with local suppliers and professionals in the region where they are manufactured.
We care about following tradition in the use of materials, seeking a final result that differentiates us as a special and distinguished product from the rest.
Our story begins in the Italian region of Friuli, in the 19th century when they were used as party or ceremonial shoes. With the passage of time they became a characteristic and essential element of life in Venice. Used especially by nobles and gondoliers. Hence the name by which they are also known: “venezianas”.
Comfortable, non-slip and not harmful to the wood, they were and are perfect to wear on boats, hence their popularity among Venice gondoliers. Their use by Venetian nobles also contributed to their popularity, who elegantly used them to receive guests in their palaces.
Over the years they have become a popular product, numerous artisans and designers have brought them to life with different varieties.
Velvets, prints, satins, silks and cottons, along with patterns and colors, have given them a unique personality.
We strive to continue the Italian tradition by adding our reinterpretation of the classics.
