sabrage saber Sabrage or sableado is a technique to open a bottle of champagne with a saber. It is used on ceremonial occasions. Saber to uncork champagne or cava bottles with a 29cm long blade. It has a comfortable and safe handle for gripping. It comes presented in a pine box measuring: 46.5 x 17cm. This technique de Sabrage became popular in France when Napoleon Bonaparte's army visited many of the aristocratic domains shortly after the French Revolution. The saber was the favored weapon of Napoleon's cavalry. Napoleon's spectacular victories throughout Europe gave them plenty to celebrate. At these parties the cavalry opened the champagne with their sabers.
