Beaujolais Villages Domaine du Vissoux, Chermette family “Origines” 2022

This vintage was created in 1986 under the impetus of our friend Jean Brouilly, former starred chef of Tarare, who wanted a very natural Easter vintage. At the time, banana-flavored early vegetables were all the rage. We decided to make a vintage that went against this trend: a spring Beaujolais, as close as possible to the grape, using the traditional Beaujolais method, hence its name at the time, Cuvée Traditionnelle. Since then, it has attracted many followers in Beaujolais! It was this vintage that introduced the estate’s winemaking style and this is why Jean-Étienne Chermette renamed it Origine in 2018. “Unchaptalized, without exogenous yeasts and aged in oak barrels for 6 months, this wine is very fruity, deep, intense and very close to the grape.
