Protection against oxidative stress – ubiquinol Ubiquinol is a reduced form of coenzyme Q10. The coenzyme Q10 contained in the blood plasma normally consists of about 95% ubiquinol. The proportion of ubiquinone is only about 5%. Above all, ubiquinol plays a central role in the mitochondria in converting energy from carbohydrates, fats and proteins into cell energy. With increasing age, however, the body produces less and less Q10 and is then less able to convert it into ubiquinol.
