He is the first, Heinrich Vollmer, to bring Cabernet Sauvignon to Germany. To be precise in the Palatinate, in the Verbandsgemeinde of Wachenheim, in Ellerstadt. This pioneering spirit has made the Heinrich Vollmer winery what it is today: one of the largest wineries in Germany.
But Heinrich Vollmer not only recognized potential in the Palatinate, but also in Argentina as one of the first foreign winemakers in the Mendoza wine-growing region and founded Bodega Enrique Vollmer in 1987 on the eastern slopes of the Andes, in the Valle de Uco. He combined Argentine winemaking tradition with modern production methods and within 30 years created a winery that today covers an area of approx. 250 hectares of vines cultivated strictly according to the guidelines of organic viticulture - under optimal climatic conditions and far away from large cities and their air pollution.
