EARTHINGS AND ENJOYMENT
At Windspiel it all started with an enthusiasm for potatoes and a passion for a good gin. In 2014 we, Sandra Wimmeler and Denis Lönnendonker, came up with the bold plan to combine these passions.
So why not a gin made from home-made potato alcohol instead of the commonly used grain. Not just any potato, but
grown in the soil of the beautiful Vulkaneifel, where it develops its very own taste and where we are at home.
In Holger Borchers we found an experienced master distiller who was willing to embark on this adventure with us. The task: The gin should be fine and down-to-earth, with an exquisite and subtle note.
A London Dry Gin that focuses on the essentials - a gin for connoisseurs.
And because everything is an affair of the heart for us, the design should also have an extraordinary charisma - noble and yet close to nature. So we decided on an elegant, simple bottle, a cream-colored natural paper as the basis of ours
Labels and a natural cork from sustainable production by Amorim Cork. For that certain unmistakable something, a golden ring with a noble cord adorns our wind chime products.
The name Windspiel goes back to Frederick the Great and his potato decree of 1746. He brought one of the best natural products in the world to his homeland. His second great passion were greyhounds. The symbiosis of these two passions was the inspiration for the naming of our manufactory.
