The three Bears

Traditional story adapted by Xosé Ballesteros from the version published in 1837 by the English poet Robert Southey. In the initial version it was not a girl, but an old woman, who entered the bear house without permission. But it was not the only change; in later adaptations other variants were introduced, so that the intruder became a fox and later the girl who -in a story from 1904- would receive the name of Goldilocks. The three bears are presented as refined and peaceful animals, compared to to the rudeness that characterizes the character who invades his home. A story especially recommended for first readers, due to its structure based on repetition and because it handles the concepts of size and quantity. It also allows you to introduce aspects related to family and kinship, the house and its surroundings, or good manners. On an aesthetic level, the illustrations stand out for their simplicity, warmth and detail; Miguel Tanco uses the collage technique and textured materials to represent both the characters and the spaces where they move.
