"Barberry or zerishq in the Persian language is a small, tart red berry grown in the Mashad region. This small berry has a chewy texture and a tart taste. You can cook barberry with rice or accompany it with meat. The berry enhances the taste and brings a little acid touch to the dish. You can also infuse barberry in hot water as it has anti-inflammatory properties. It also acts on the aging genes. The consumption of this plant is not recommended during pregnancy.
