Purgatory Beans 300g.

The cultivation of the Purgatory Bean began in 1600 when it became the main dish of the "Purgatory Lunch", organized in the municipality of Gradoli (province of Viterbo) on Ash Wednesday.   The tradition originates at the end of the 16th century when the Brotherhood of Purgatory began organizing this event to raise funds and other sustenance items for its activities to help families in difficulty.   They are an excellent food rich in proteins, starch and mineral salts and low in fat.   They are also a rich source of crude fiber. To savor the quality of the bean it is advisable to taste it with the addition of salt and E oil only.V.O.   or paired with fish-based dishes.   Soaking no / Cooking 60-90 minutes [pressure cooker cooking 20' from the start of the whistle].   All our legumes are grown in open fields by local farmers.
