•90 or 110 cm diameter • Made from robust, sustainable water hyacinth • perfect as an eye-catcher in the hallway or living room • lovingly packaged plastic-free • 100% handmade and fair trade Our small round rug Laora is woven from the tropical plant water hyacinth.   Smaller circles are grouped around a large central circle.   With its unusual geometric design, it is a natural decorative element in every apartment and creates a homely ambience.    The sustainable, robust material is durable and insensitive and reveals the special charm of its warm brown tones, especially in combination with bright furnishings.   Laora is available in two sizes, namely 90 and 110 cm diameter. -------------------------------------------------- ------------------- Mass weight: Diameter: -90cm; 2.60kg -110cm; 3.80kg Our products are artfully crafted unique pieces.   Due to hand manufacturing and natural variations in materials, they may vary slightly in size, color and shape. -------------------------------------------------- ------------------- Material: water hyacinth Our carpets are made from plant fibers.   They therefore smell and feel wonderfully natural.    Water hyacinth is a tropical aquatic plant that grows on rivers and lakes.   It actually comes from South America, but was also introduced into Southeast Asia.   There it is considered a weed because it reproduces incredibly quickly and can cover entire bodies of water with a carpet of leaves.   The resulting lack of light and oxygen causes all life underwater to die, which is why the plants must be removed regularly.   To prepare the plants for further processing, the leaves are cut off and the thick stems are dried in the sun for three to seven days.   The result is an abundant, sustainable raw material for many woven goods here at Soeji! -------------------------------------------------- ------------------- Place of production: This rug is handmade in Java, Indonesia.   When selecting our local producers, we value fair pay and good working conditions.   Only adult and experienced artisans work in the companies from which we purchase our goods.   No harmful chemicals are used during production.   Since all work steps are carried out by hand, the production process hardly produces any greenhouse gas emissions.   We ensure all of this through regular on-site visits and ongoing personal contact with the companies.
