Celery Seeds

Celery Seeds have a strong flavour so use sparingly. A pinch on a potato salad or coleslaw adds an interesting flavour, or add to soups, stews, baking, dressings. We add a pinch when roasting a chicken too. The classic start to any soup, stew or chilli is the 'Holy Trinity' of celery, carrots onions (the French mirepoix or Italian soffritto) though we normally have onions carrots to hand, we rarely have celery, so we add a pinch of celery seeds for a good alternative when we're cooking. Another tip is to grind them to a powder use as a salt substitute.
