Like the grasslands and pampas, the Kalahari is a vast savannah biome and is home to abundant plants, birds, and animals of all shapes and sizes. Covering most of the African subcontinent, the Kalahari begins in South Africa, stretches through Botswana and half of Namibia, and is bordered on the north by Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Angola to the Democratic Republic of the Congo. At the heart of this colossal ecosystem, we find the Central Kalahari Reserve, which, at 52,000 square kilometers, is one of the largest wildlife reserves in the world.
