This little bag impresses with its beautiful design. It fits coins and even Apple Airpods! These bags are handmade in Guatemala from elaborately hand-embroidered, traditional fabrics (“huipil”): These fabrics are worn as clothing for years and then, when they begin to wear out, are reused. The well-preserved regions of the valuable huipil fabrics are cut out and made into bags and other new products by sewing them into new cotton fabrics. The wallets, for example, have a back made of robust denim, also hand-woven in Guatemala, or other woven fabrics. Finally, an inner lining made of viscose is inserted and some foam is incorporated between the two layers of fabric, which protects the contents of the bag from light pressure or small bumps. Finally, the zipper is sewn in and the key ring is threaded into it. These mini bags are made from fabric scraps from larger items. The Colors of Handwoven Fabrics Each village has traditional costumes that give rise to a variety of colors and patterns. This creates an incredible variety of patterns and colors in the villages and ultimately also in our warehouse. Sometimes there are a lot of very colorful ones, other times there are a lot of black, blue or red ones. There are geometric designs and floral patterns.
