The long winding road of this typical Italian scene in Umbria that takes you up to the hotel Relais il Canalicchio has some breathtaking views, and this is one of them. I sat by the side of the road and painted a small watercolour sketch of Casalalta on the spot which formed the basis for this larger studio work.
