It is best known as one of the main ingredients of the classic bouquet garni. Together with parsley, bay leaves, and other herbs, it can liven up the aroma of soups, stews, and sauces. Thyme is also a key ingredient in the traditional Herbes de Provence spice mix. It goes well with pork, lamb, poultry, potatoes, and cabbage.
