Hello, we are Lisa and John and we create colourful and unique gifts and cards inspired by our two daughters and their love of fun shapes and colour.
Our story began in summer 2009, when Lisa took a selection of creations to a small local craft fair in Bakewell, Derbyshire. After receiving amazing feedback, we knew the next step was to open an online shop to reach a wider audience.
The business grew quickly, and in 2011, Lisa left her day job to work exclusively on Altered Chic.
In January 2014 after an exceptionally busy Christmas, we took on a business unit to give us much-needed space. We got another pair of hands when Lisa’s sister, Claire, joined the us that summer.
Following a brief stint teaching, John left to help develop the business in 2015.
In October 2019 we opened Shop Indie in Chesterfield town centre, stocking our products alongside dozens of other independent makers.
In Spring 2021 our small team expanded as Joel and Jo joined us to create all our lovely products and we finally had the capacity to launch the wholesale side of our business.
Seeing how well received our products have been for the last 11 years, especially in our gift shop, we knew that they would be perfect for sharing with more independent gift shops and boutiques.
Whilst we have been fortunate to be able to invest in new equipment, we continue to hand-paint and put together our colourful selection of products with love and care – just as we always have done – in our Derbyshire studio.
