We love: ✽ Its 30% RAW donkey milk, a true soothing and hydrating skin tonic ✽ Its calendula macerate, which aids healing thanks to its terpenes (they promote collagen synthesis, stimulate cell regeneration, and accelerate healing by regulating various cellular processes).) ✽Its protective beeswax ✽ Its native aloe vera gel, which has the property of reducing skin inflammation, being astringent, and promoting healing. ✽Its sweet minty scent from peppermint essential oil ✽ Its melting texture ● Its packaging (+ more information in the ethics section). However, it will require a lot of pressure on the pump to prime it. This is completely normal and part of the cream's protection system. What are the other ingredients used for? The water is used to have an "aqueous phase" which can be heated to create the emulsion (which means that the milk does not need to be heated). Olivem 1000 is an emulsifier derived from olives that allows oils and aqueous phases to bind together. Cosgard is a synthetic preservative (which has no natural equivalent, which is why it is accepted in organic cosmetics) which prevents mold and bacterial growth. Grapefruit seed extract is a natural preservative that protects the aqueous phase. Natural vitamin E is a natural preservative that protects oils from going rancid. ✧But this cream is also ethical ✧ ◆ All ingredients are certified organic except for the clay, which is not. Labeled organic by the Nouvelle Cosmetique, a label that promotes "intelligent," "reasonable," and "humane" cosmetics. ◆ All oils used are virgin or extra virgin (which means undeodorized, unrefined, obtained by cold pressing and therefore without contact with chemicals). ◆ The calendula macerate is made in-house. ◆ The sunflower oil in the macerate is purchased from a local producer. ◆ The calendula comes from the farm or a local producer. ◆ The nettle comes from the farm or a local producer. ◆ The aloe vera gel is composed of 94.9% fresh juice from the pulp of the aloe vera plant, not powdered or rehydrated. It therefore has all the therapeutic virtues of aloe vera. The rest of the composition of this gel is made up of preservatives of strictly plant origin: sodium levulinate comes from corn, sodium anisate comes from basil and a texturizing agent (Tara gum) 100% natural and plant-based which supports agricultural communities in Peru and which does not require chemical transformation. ◆Donkey milk comes exclusively from our farm and is used raw. The cream is made at the end of the day, after the last milking, and without heat treatment to preserve all the milk's properties. ◆ The "airless" bottle, meaning a jar that doesn't let air in when you scoop the cream, limits the risk of product contamination and allows us to use raw milk without adding additional preservatives and give it a 12-month PAO (Use After Opening) period. Opaque, it protects the cream from UV rays to ensure better preservation of the benefits of the various ingredients. ◆ The illustration on the label was created by a local illustrator and graphic designer who was fairly compensated for her time. It is part of a series of illustrations that aims to be inclusive and closer to our customers than the beauty criteria usually advocated. ◆Because we want to limit our environmental impact, the label is made from cane fiber waste.
