The large school notebook brings together the four small original books which correspond to the four periods of the war. In the book, each notebook is presented with its cover and back cover "of the time" with multiplication tables, weight equivalences, liquid measurements... In the summary: 1939-1940 - It's war 1940-1941 - The Germans are here 1942-1944 - We resist! 1944 – Finally Free In their letters, Ernest and Colette take turns to write about their daily lives during the war. Their stories are punctuated with illustrations taken from the cartoon and staged like photographs. Each notebook contains 4 documentary pages illustrated with archive photos that provide an update on the Second World War: the aim is to provide information that leaves the level of children's eyes to offer a more political and less everyday vision of the war.
