We recommend using 50g for a 1 liter capacity. As with our sticks, the pieces last for 6 months provided you boil them again for 10 minutes after 3 months of use. We recommend 50g = 1L. Loose charcoal should be boiled for 10 minutes before first use. Use your Binchotan charcoal pieces for 3 months. You can then recharge them by boiling them for 10 minutes and then letting them dry. You can then reuse them for up to 3 more months. Charcoal also has many secondary uses, such as extending the life of your fruits or vegetables, absorbing unwanted odors, or adding nutrients to plants.
