Mud pants (by the way, mud pants are called Gatschgewand in Austria) Do I only need the pants / mud pants when it rains? No, these are not pure rain trousers, but rather “protective clothing”. Water games have established themselves across the board on the playgrounds. Whenever water is involved, a pair of pair of pair of pair of pair of pants can also be used. Wet children's clothing cools the body down unnoticed - this is referred to as the chill factor or wind chill factor. The water in the clothing evaporates in the wind, thereby cooling the clothing and the child's body. Therefore, it is always recommended to wear a waterproof protective layer when playing with water. Even in the early hours of the morning, when the lawn and sand are still damp and cold, it makes sense to use pair of pants. They also prevent the children from cooling down unnoticed. Who likes to sit in the wet or cold? How do you put on Buddelhosen correctly? This is where opinions differ. One faction puts the pants in the rubber boots, the other pulls the pants over the boots. We at BMS recommend the variant with trousers on the outside. This has several advantages. Firstly, water does not run into the boots from above. It doesn't matter whether the water comes from the stream or from the rain. Secondly, the heat does not accumulate in the rubber boots and the feet do not start to sweat. Third, there are no pressure points on the calves and shins. The waistband then belongs under the rubber boot. The BMS rubber boots made of natural rubber have an extra cut-out for the rubber band. This reduces wear on the waistband. What distinguishes BMS SoftSkin® from other materials? BMS mud pants are made of SoftSkin® material. The material is an in-house development by BMS, so BMS Buddelhosen are unique. SoftSkin® is particularly soft, does not crease and is particularly hard-wearing. The material features a double-knit backing fabric. This makes it elastic and pleasantly soft on the skin. The outer PU coating (recommended by Greenpeace) is slightly breathable and 100% PFC-free. Of course, the material meets the strict criteria of Standard 100 by Oekotex Category 1. Why is the bib cut so high? Form follows function. What's a pair of mud pants worth if they don't protect the child properly while playing. As described above, the pants are not only intended for use in the rain. Mud pants are often worn without a jacket being used. The Buddelhose is then simply pulled over the sweater or fleece jacket. Then the dungarees must be cut high to protect the chest and stomach when playing with water. Imagine a child playing at the faucet, fountain or a wheelbarrow full of rain. How fast does the water then run into your pants from above. Why is PFC-free clothing so important? PFC is the abbreviation for Per- and Polyfluorinated Chemicals - also known as PFAS (per- and polyfluorinated alkyl substances) or PFT (perfluorinated surfactants). PFCs are used in many textiles because of their special properties – water, grease and dirt-repellent as well as being chemically and thermally stable. PFCs can already enter the environment during their manufacture and during the manufacture of PFC-containing products. During the use and disposal of these products, they can also be released later in the life cycle. The use of fire-extinguishing foams containing fluorine also leads to increased concentrations of PFCs in the environment. The perfluorinated chemicals cannot be broken down in sewage treatment plants. Rather, additional perfluorinated chemicals are formed in sewage treatment plants through various conversion processes from the degradable precursor compounds (polyfluorinated chemicals). Water-soluble PFCs are distributed globally via rivers and seas. Even in remote areas like the Arctic and the animals that live there, these connections are found. Humans ingest PFCs mainly through food or contaminated drinking water. Increased concentrations of PFCs in indoor air, for example due to carpets with a dirt-repellent finish, also contribute to human PFC exposure. Cotton lining in rain pants? In general, rainwear should always be turned inside out when drying. Unfortunately, that's just theory. Especially in the KiTa, the digging clothes are hung up the way the children take them off. Cotton absorbs and stores moisture and wetness. If the wet clothing is not completely dried, and also pulled inside out, germs and bacteria can nest and develop. Mold spores also accumulate in damp cotton. We therefore recommend using the onion principle. In addition, the cotton lining does not add any value. BMS SoftSkin® has a very pleasant and soft inside, which can also be worn directly on the skin. It is comparable to nylon tights. Material identification: Outer material: 100% Polyester, Coating: 100% Polyurethane
