We could have given this work the name of Occitan Dictionary, but we preferred the less general title of Capestanese Dictionary. Here is the second completed and expanded edition. After several hundred copies of the first edition sold, this new expanded and revised version seemed necessary due to the discovery of new reliable sources. Let the reader make no mistake, this dictionary is not exclusively intended for the inhabitants of the town of Capestang, it is intended for everyone. We approach Capestang, but also neighboring municipalities, as well as those that have had a close historical relationship with this city. You will find elements belonging to Occitan and local culture, descriptions of local buildings and relating to the history of the triangle between Béziers, Narbonne and Saint-Pons. Furthermore, to name just a few elements, the traveler will also be able to discover some anecdotes and recipes for local cuisine. These latter are nowadays the subject of culinary competitions in Agde, Nîmes or Sète. This work also focuses on three important elements and witnesses marking Occitan life: listed monuments, everyday life in the Occitan world and small heritage. It is a living testimony of two cultures that have intersected for centuries: Mediterranean culture (Roman, Greek, Arab and Phoenician) and that from the North (Gallic and Celtic). It therefore exceeds the borders of the triangle whose center is Capestang. If you want to complete your knowledge about this southern culture and get to know the South-West Hérault region, the Capestanese Dictionary is for you!
