Our origins have their roots in two seas, the Cantabrian and the Mediterranean. A story that begins at the end of the 19th century, when Grandfather Salvatore Orlando first set foot on the shores of Getaria, in Gipuzkoa, sent by his father from his native Sicily. He was one of the Italian pioneers who introduced ancient salting techniques to the Cantabrian coast, where they were not yet known.
Salvatore's marriage to a Basque woman, Simona Olasagasti, produced six children and several companies, whose products were already distributed throughout Italy through family businesses established there. Today, the company founded by Salvatore and Simona continues to produce at its factory in Markina, Bizkaia, preserving a centuries-old tradition that bears Simona's surname as its banner.
