Queen Flasher Still Life Bell Jar

This collection of Queen Flasher butterflies (Panacea regina) (Family: Nymphalidae) has been hand set by our expert entomologists in our studio and mounted in a museum quality bell jar, embellished with an authentic, hand-pressed wax seal stamp, depicting the royal cypher of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The common moniker Queen Flasher comes from its scientific name “regina”, a Latin word meaning “queen.” Panacea regina is the largest member of the genus. It was discovered by the legendary explorer and naturalist Henry Walter Bates in 1864 , and named in honour of Queen Victoria - the great-great grandmother of Queen Elizabeth II.
