This Queen Purple-Tip butterfly (Colotis regina) (Family: Pieridae) has been hand set by our expert entomologists in our studio and mounted in a museum quality bell jar, embellished with an authentic, hand-pressed wax seal stamp, depicting the royal cypher of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The common moniker Queen, or Regal, Purple Tip comes from its scientific name “regina”, a Latin word meaning “queen.” Curated by our in-house entomologists, each piece is designed and handcrafted to reflect the natural behaviour of the insect in life, creating a snapshot in time from the archives of nature.
