De Werfkelder - Blond beer from Utrecht

One of the Utrecht icons that many Utrecht residents are proud of: the Oudegracht! Our old graggie is about 2 kilometers long and was dug completely by hand in the 12th century. The canal was formerly used as a supply and disposal route for merchandise and building materials. Today an eco-garbage boat still sails on the canal every day, just like a beer boat to supply the Utrecht catering industry. Nice detail: the Oudegracht only got its name after the construction of the Nieuwegracht in 1393.
