Rubber duck Anne Boleyn rubber duck

Anne Boleyn was the second wife of King Henry VIII of England and served as Queen from 1533 to 1536.

She held an important place in English history for being a key figure in the English Reformation and also for her influence on the King and the political landscape of England during her tenure.  Anne Boleyn was born to Sir Thomas Boleyn and his wife, Lady Elizabeth Howard.

Raised in France and the Netherlands, she later returned to England where she served at the court of Queen Katherine of Aragon.

She later became King Henry VIII's mistress, and the king sought to have his marriage to Katherine of Aragon annulled in order to marry Anne.

After the marriage was annulled, Henry married Anne and made her his queen.  During her tenure as Queen, Anne Boleyn had a considerable influence on English politics.

She promoted the English Reformation and campaigned for the secession of the English Church from Rome.

She was also a patron of education and science and encouraged the introduction of the printing press in England.  However, Anne Boleyn was tried and executed in 1536 for alleged adultery, treason and incestuous adultery.

Nevertheless, to this day she holds an important place in English history and culture, and is often seen as a symbol of the difficulties and dangers faced by women at court.
