Framed Poster Chat Noir

Le Chat Noir, in Dutch De Zwarte Kat, was a theater and cabaret café located in Montmartre in Paris. The most famous surviving image of Le Chat Noir is the poster by Théophile-Alexandre Steinlen entitled Tournée du Chat Noir from 1896. Le Chat Noir became a popular meeting place for artists and comedians. The idea of Le Chat Noir was so successful that similar and similar venues were soon opened in other European cities. The Dutch cabaret site Zwartekat.nl is named after Le Chat Noir.
