VJ Day in Times Square (aka V-Day and The Kiss) is a photograph by Alfred Eisenstaedt portraying a United States Marine Corps who grabs a stranger—a woman in a white dress—for the Japan Day win (“VJ Day") in New York City's Times Square on August 14, 1945. The photo was published a week later in Life magazine, among many photos of celebrations in the United States presented in a twelve-page section entitled "Victory Celebrations."
