Text on the tag: During his stay in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, van Gogh painted over 15 versions of olive trees. The tree was dear to the artist as he associated harvesting to the cycle of life, and the relationship between man and nature. Since ancient Greece, the olive branch symbolise peace and friendship.
