
The "Varietà Avola" organic shelled almonds by I Frutti del Sole are grown and harvested in Sicily, in the Val di Noto which is a patch of land between Ragusa and Syracuse. "With a perfect oval" as Leonardo Sciascia described them, these almonds they are the undisputed protagonists of Sicilian pastry making thanks to their taste with decidedly aromatic notes, the elegance of their shape and the high content of nutritional substances. Considered the best almond in the world, this precious seed finds in the Val di Noto an ideal habitat for the formation of its taste: near the sea or on the low hills, where temperatures are mild even in winter. This variety is protected by the "Noto Mandorla" Slow Food Presidium and by the "Avola Mandorla" Consortium.
