Nessie is a name synonymous with Scotland.... of course referring to the Loch Ness Monster! The first ever recorded sighting of the beast was in 565AD by St. Columba, and since then there have been hundreds of reported sightings (albeit with limited evidence to support it!). Our favourite attempt in coaxing Nessie to the surface was in 1975 when four firemen built a 309 foot long papier-mâché 'lady monster', equipped with it's own recorded mating call, false eye lashes and a full face of make-up! Sadly Nessie was not tempted... Loch Ness is deeper than the North Sea, so it is quite plausible that there are secrets lurking down still awaiting discovery. That being said, some Nessie related investigating gives a great excuse to do some wild camping on the shores!
