The Sateré Mawé Indians, in partnership with GUAYAPI since 1993, are the Guardians of the Warana World Gene Bank. Since 2016, Waranà Sateré Mawé has been the subject of a Denominação de Origem with the National Institute of Industrial Property in Brazil, the Brazilian equivalent of our AOC (Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée).
