It was in 1823 that a young man named William Webb Ellis had the great idea, during a game of “football”, to take the ball with his hands on a college field in the town of Rugby, in England, and thereby "invent" a sport. It is a fantastic adventure that we are telling you about here, from the first improvised matches in English colleges to the formidable World Cup, from the first final of the French championship, in 1892, to the spectacular Top 14, the first British matches to major modern competitions, from the first champions of the 20th century to the planetary stars of today.
