Highlander

Highlander was founded in Scotland in the mid-1980s, when clothing and equipment for the outdoors lacked in design and good value. We thought otherwise – that enjoying the challenges and beauty of the great outdoors with good equipment should be available to everyone.

Highlander founder Bahram Golzari was climbing Ben Nevis via the Ledge Route on a freezing November day in 1982, the buckle on his backpack had snapped and his clothes were not keeping him warm. He was an Edinburgh university student in those days and couldn’t afford to buy from elitist outdoor brands, but was frustrated that those were the only options if you wanted to experience the great outdoors. A few years later, He left his PHD, took his engineering background and love for the mountains and created Highlander.

37 years later, this ever-growing passion, and our commitment to producing gear that helps people look good, feel good, and stay safe, has helped Highlander become the brand that it is today. Over the years Highlander has enjoyed success and in 2010, Highlander was appointed official licensees to the 2012 Olympic Games and appointed official licensees to the 2014 Commonwealth Games. From the beginning, Highlander has successfully grown and expanded developing and producing clothing and equipment for the the outdoor and also the tactical market. From day trips into local hills to long, camping treks into the mountains, we are passionate about being in the outdoors and are immersed in it when ever the opportunity arrives.

From day one with our humble beginnings, until today, Highlander's ethos is that technical performance and intuitive design in clothing and equipment should be available to everyone. Over the years, this ethos has been our North Star as we continually strive to create outdoor clothing and caping equipment that helps everyone to explore their world, their way.
