This special work 'In grey' (1919), is described by the Russian-French painter, Wassily Kandinsky, as the end of his dramatic period. It is also known as 'Im Grau', and 'In the grey'. Kadinsky was one of the greatest founders of abstract art. He was a professor at the Weimar Bauhaus and is known for his sound color theory. It states, among other things, that all colors have their own expression, form, soul and sound. In this work you see a completely abstract composition with geometric shapes, paired with primary colors and gray tones. This masterpiece is also seen as the end of his Russian period.
