Carl Axel Magnus Lindman 1856-1928 Botanist and illustrator Carl Axel Magnus Lindman and Nordens Flora Nordens Flora is one of the botanist Carl Axel Magnus Lindman's most famous works. The pictures in the first edition (1901–1905) were based on copper plates from J W Palmstruch's Swedish Botany, published 1802–43, but for the second edition Lindman made 144 pictures in collaboration with the Academy's cartoonist Axel Ekblom. It was a sales success and the pictures did not spread widely as school posters. Lindman's textbook for high school, Botanikens Första Grunder (1906) was also used extensively in teaching.
