Black and yellow rush basket - Nathalie

This basket was made from rush, another plant fiber from Madagascar. Its appearance is smoother and shinier than raffia. The fibers cross for a graphic effect, a pattern evoking houndstooth in yellow & black. It was made by Nathalie, from the Rouge Beauté association in the north of Madagascar. Decorative and practical with its flat bottom, it lends itself equally well to a trip to the beach as to an easy-to-live-with and original setting in a living room. Here we have decorated it with eucalyptus stems for a beautiful plant effect.
