The photoelectric (optical) detection method detects infrared rays scattered by visible smoke particles. The smoke detector is equipped with a self-diagnostic tool and a check function to make sure it works properly throughout its life. The device works so that as soon as it smells smoke it starts to emit a continuous loud warning sound to alert residents.
